CESPA election rules
(as amended at the AGM October 2000)
1. Only members of the Association can submit themselves as candidates for the Committee.
2. Each candidate is elected representing one pre-determined area of interest (a language section, either primary or secondary division; the nursery section; parents for whose national language no separate language section exists). The candidates with the highest votes within each list will automatically be declared elected.
3. The candidate must have a child attending the section and division for which he / she presents him / herself as a candidate. If the prospective candidate has children in more than one section / division, he / she must choose in advance only ONE of the sections / divisions to represent.
4. Candidate can submit their candidature and acceptance of nomination in advance of the AGM in writing or present themselves during the AGM.
5. Every candidate who accepts nomination is invited to submit a short election address.
6. Each parent present at the AGM represents a voter.
7. No voting by proxy is allowed.
8. Each voter has up to 15 votes to cast individually with a maximum of one vote in each group or section / division and three in the group of parents with no national language section, and two in nursery:
8.1. Dutch language section, Primary and Secondary (1 vote each)
8.2. English language section, Primary and Secondary (1 vote each)
8.3. French language section, Primary and Secondary (1 vote each)
8.4. German language section, Primary and Secondary (1 vote each)
8.5. Italian language section, Primary and Secondary (1 vote each)
8.6. Parents with other languages (up to 3 votes)
8.7. Nursery section (2 votes)
9. If a voter does not wish to cast a vote in each category but wishes to restrict his / her choice to only selected categories, this will not invalidate the election.
10. The members present at the AGM shall elect 6 tellers to carry out the counting of the votes. The tellers must not be candidates for the Committee.
